The Champions Trophy clash between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain. This marks the second consecutive match at the venue to be washed out, following the Australia vs South Africa game from Group B that suffered the same fate earlier.
Heavy rain throughout the afternoon prevented the covers from being removed, leading to an official match cancellation at 3:27 PM local time, approximately 90 minutes after the scheduled start.
Rawalpindi Matches and Group A Standings
This was the final match hosted in Rawalpindi for the tournament. The venue previously witnessed New Zealand’s five-wicket victory over Bangladesh on February 24, but the last two scheduled games at the stadium ended in no results due to rain.
With India set to face New Zealand in Dubai on March 2, the final Group A standings will be determined. However, both teams have already secured their place in the semi-finals.
Pakistan & Bangladesh’s Final Standings
Bangladesh finished above Pakistan in the group standings based on net run rate (NRR):
- Bangladesh: -0.443
- Pakistan: -1.087
