President Donald Trump abruptly canceled a scheduled news conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following a tense Oval Office meeting on Friday. Reports indicate that Trump, alongside Vice President JD Vance, criticized Zelensky for not showing enough gratitude for U.S. military aid in Ukraine’s war against Russia.
Taking to social media, Trump stated that Zelensky is “not ready for peace” and accused him of disrespecting the U.S. in the Oval Office. He added that the Ukrainian leader could return “when he is ready for peace.”
Following the meeting, Zelensky held discussions with several European leaders, who reaffirmed their strong support for Ukraine. Later, in a Fox News interview, Zelensky expressed hope that U.S.-Ukraine relations could still be repaired despite the fallout.
