Police are seeking help to identify two boys who allegedly stole from an electronics store before repeatedly punching a customer while trying to escape.

The pair were part of a group of six youths who entered Westfield Belconnen at about 3:30 pm on 20 May, an ACT Policing spokesperson alleged.

The two boys then allegedly entered the JB Hi-Fi store in the mall and proceeded to an employee-only area, where they stole several items.

They were then stopped by a customer when they tried to flee and allegedly punched the man several times before leaving the store.

Police described the boys as Caucasian in appearance with short dark hair.

One boy wore a black Everlast puffer jacket with a hood, light-coloured pants, grey shoes and a dark backpack.

The second boy wore sunglasses, a black Kathmandu puffer jacket over a grey hoodie and dark shirt, light-coloured pants, white and black shoes and a dark backpack.
